“This week I’m just getting started. ” I’m sure you’ve said it more than once, whether it’s to lose weight, quit smoking or start a project (related to education, job opportunities, leisure), the truth is that it’s easy to decide what we’re going to start.
Getting started can be easy: it’s hard to have enough willpower to move on.
- The very decision to start something gives us enough willpower to begin with.
- Yet this motivation and good intentions dissipate over time.
Laziness, lack of conviction, or lack of support may be some of the reasons for the unhook we need to continue.
There are two important things you need to know about willpower
Willpower makes sure that whatever you get, all you want,
Will helps us overcome inertia. When we see ourselves as foolish, our self-esteem collapses and we replace ourselves with ‘fantasizing’. We think about what we will do in the future when we realize what we are not able to do, as if we think we could make it happen, but that does not happen, nor will it happen if certain measures are not taken.
To train the will and increase it every day, consider the following techniques:
There are frantic situations that make us use all the will we have in ourselves, and in that inertia we decided to get to work to do everything we wanted to do: go to the gym, lose weight, quit smoking, read a book for a week, write a blog and post something every day?No, better two blogs, a staff and a professional – cook every day, spend more time with the family, etc.
It was exhausting to read the list, wasn’t it? Imagine what it would be like to make everything work at the same time. Crazy!
Projects must be started one at a time. You need it and you’ve been thinking about it for years. With all the energy you have at the time, if it’s hard to keep it for one thing, imagine it with two or more.
Even a single project can be a lot to start with. Starting with a small part of a project will help you maintain your initial energy and get used to it. It’s like going to the gym and doing your best on the first day. A day or two later, you can barely move.
When you reach part of your goal moves to the next level, you will gradually be able to integrate this new habit into your life, thus facilitating the small efforts to maintain.
Many will say you can’t do this or it’s not for you. Envy is powerful. People can’t assimilate that others can do what they can’t or don’t want.
Get those leeches out of your life. Those people who feed on others to justify their miserable existence. You have to face the people who try to drag you into your dramas, your neuroses and exhaust your strength.
Any task that requires a strong will must be considered in context. Keep in mind that not all situations in your life are conducive to these tasks.
To get ready and be ready before you start your new routine, you need to adapt to the situation, for this the idea of stopping for a moment and planning a little is a good idea to fit into the situation and get all the mental energy you need. Meditation, or any activity that helps you regain serenity, will help you rejuvenate and prepare your body and mind to meet your challenge.
When we take a path, it’s easy to stay there if we know that what we’re doing aligns with our core values. When we determine our values and have confidence in what we believe in, the possibility of acting by impulse is much lower. When we do things by impulse, we stop thinking and start acting emotionally.
