There’s been a lot of talk about 5G networks. It is a fifth generation technology that has big differences with its predecessors, however, many doctors and health professionals have warned of its potential risks.
Technological advances are totally irreversible. Once an invention or discovery is reached, there is never a turning back, and less so when this advance involves a high capital investment or implies economic power in one way or another 5G networks will be no exception.
“Pollution should never be the price of prosperity. “Al Gore-
However, there has been a great collective debate on this issue, in the opinion of many experts, 5G networks are a highly polluting technology, which can have serious effects on humans and ecosystems as a whole.
It is therefore requested that there be at least sufficient information on the subject.
5G technology allows you to build wireless connections between all types of devices, achieves a high connection speed never before achieved and has a large capacity to support high volumes of traffic.
That is, 5G networks allow you to work at full speed, with a lot of devices connected simultaneously.
This technology will also significantly expand the ‘Internet of Things’, i. e. operate all kinds of devices remotely, only with a mobile phone.
So far so good. The problem is that 5G networks will require a change of infrastructure, as they require the massive installation of thousands of small antennas, whose sizes range from the diameter of a room to the size of a frisbee.
Therefore, they will be everywhere, work all the time and, according to some, generate a constant cloud of increasing radiation.
One of the most problematic points is that many of these antennas will have to be placed at ground level, there will probably be a distance of less than 100 meters between them to ensure effective interconnection.
In addition, according to current regulations, no one will know exactly where they will be located.
There are still no definitive conclusions about the effect of electromagnetic waves on health, however, what really exists is that there is a significant suspicion about it.
In 2011, for example, the World Health Organization classified mobile phone microwaves as “2B”. It means: “Possibly carcinogenic. “
In addition, several independent studies claim that these waves cause widespread oxidative stress, which predisposes to various health conditions.
Dr. Magda Havas, professor of environmental sciences at the universities of Toronto and Trent, says there is evidence that these waves are disrupting the functioning of cells.
In addition, there is also the Mobi-Kids survey, a study of children and adolescents. Electromagnetism may appear to be responsible for the increase in cases of brain tumors in this population.
The results have not yet been published in full
Another worrying aspect of this technology is that 5G networks have great potential to exercise vigilance over people. Its stability, volume and speed allow a detailed monitoring of all the actions performed by a person.
Information may be collected, including the number of times we open the refrigerator or dry our hair.
It should also be noted that two countries in particular have stated that 5G networks are a matter of state: China and the United States, there appears to be a strong struggle to control this new technology.
Currently, those who argue that these technologies are harmless have not presented evidence to support such a claim.
On the other hand, official documents have emerged warning of possible damage to electromagnetic fields, one of them is the one published by the European Academy of Environmental Medicine in 2016.
In addition to any consideration, what we all need is to be widely informed on the subject. Those who call for a broad debate on the subject are right. Whether true or not 5G networks are harmful, we all have a right to know.
In the meantime, we need to make sure that children have access to these technologies, so here’s an alert, because it’s worth cultivating habits, times and spaces to disconnect.
