The Dalai Lama Langri Tangpa (1054-1123) wrote The Eight Verses to Train the Spirit more than 800 years ago (Loyong Tsik Guiema), with his words offering us ways to neutralize our negative behaviors and thoughts, which lead us to feel pain and suffering. Below are 8 verses of the Dalai Lama whose goal is to make the most of our emotional and physical health.
Thinking that all the beings who feel
are even more valuable than the jewel that satisfies your desires
to achieve the end goal,
so that I can always consider them beautiful.
All beings are precious, especially interest, feeling or reality, cultivating love and compassion for the world guarantees us inner peace, healthy emotions and love for nature.
Wherever I go, who I’m with
Can I feel inferior to others and,
from the bottom of my heart,
consider everything extremely valuable
We need to develop our ability to be empathetic and selfless with our environment. The key is to work on yourself, to overcome bad attitudes when we lose something. Everything in life teaches.
That I can examine my mind in all actions,
and when a negative state appears
that puts me in danger and others,
Can I face it and keep it away?
Being self-aware and knowing each other deeply allows us to dissolve passionate feelings or turbulent acts, in what we must work on most is anger, whose basis is fear, this is undoubtedly the most dangerous and destructive emotion. we have to work on our ability to control it.
When you see beings of negative disposition
or those who are oppressed by negativity or pain,
May I consider them as precious as a treasure found,
because they are hard to find
Just as we can learn from the negative emotions we develop, we can learn and appreciate people who are overwhelmed by these feelings. Observing people is a great way to test our emotional evolution.
When others, driven by jealousy,
offend me and treat me in other unjust ways
Can I accept defeat against me?
and offer victory to others.
Each of us has mastered his silences and his words, our self-esteem is beyond what motivates jealousy and envy, and the ability to forgive helps us take a new step in our emotional maturity.
When someone I helped
or who I’ve put all my hopes on
it hurts very unfairly,
Can I see you as a sacred friend?
Our patience is tested when a friend does not know how to appreciate what we can offer him, so is human nature and we, better than anyone, can understand it.
In short, which I can offer, directly and indirectly,
all joy and benefit to all beings
and be able to keep all your pain and suffering a secret about me.
Giving our best and sharing our best qualities with those around us will help us understand the mental state and virtue of others.
They don’t get stained with concepts
of the world’s eight interests
and, aware that everything is illusory,
who can, without stubbornness, get rid of the bandages
What happens to us is usually fleeting and fleeting. Therefore, being aware of the delirant nature of human interests will help us to let go of the things around us, without clinging to what is dying within us.
