Since ancient times there have been stories that tell real but extraordinary facts, for which, apparently, there is no explanation. These are reports that are usually disseminated by different religions. They relate implausible situations, which are almost always linked to healing miracles.
All religions, including the most thoughtful ones such as Buddhism, are based on accounts of this nature, stories of miraculous healings are added to others of teleportation, apparitions, disappearances, prophetic messages, apocalyptic announcements, and many others.
- For the faithful all these miracles acquire the value of trial or proof of the existence of a deity.
- Since religion is a matter of faith and faith believes precisely in what has no evidence.
- The truth is that these kinds of stories that speak Often spread wonders and that followers of religions claim to be another foundation of their beliefs.
Philosophers and scientists are ascetic towards this type of manifestation, their main criticism is that believers systematically refuse to practice real methods of verification of these phenomena, almost always those who certify them are the religious or believers themselves, and they do so by methods that they are not strictly scientific.
In the accounts of miracles that are disseminated through different means, the so-called “Marian apparitions”, which are related relatively often, stand out. Regardless of the sacred value that the Virgin Mary may have for the faithful, nature and the messages that spread through it. these apparitions are remarkable.
There are common patterns in Marian apparitions. They almost always occur in front of very humble and uned educationed people; never before the ecclesiastical or scientific authorities. Believers will say that Our Lady chooses the simplest because they are more virtuous. However, it is a fact that for an objective observer, it should not be missed.
On the other hand, if you take into account the messages of these apparitions, it must be concluded that Our Lady has a clearly political mentality, we are talking about a politicized virgin, who clearly expressed her position in 1917 against the Soviet Union (Virgin of Fatima), or in favor of peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina (Medjugorje). Mexicans also claim that the appearance of our Lady of Guadalupe coincides with an important catechesis effort led by Spanish settlers in Mexico.
It should be noted that the Virgin Mary appears only in America and Europe, never in Africa, Asia or Oceania, and also the fact that Marian messages contain essentially threats: they announce terrible facts to the world and appeal to religious solutions There are even priests who question the validity of these phenomena and classify them as situations closer to paganism than to religion itself.
Religious beliefs are a personal matter that deserves the highest respect and is part of everyone’s freedom of conscience. The cases of people cured of diseases through their beliefs are counted as some.
Religious will say that they are miracles, where God’s intervention is proven, non-believers will argue that cured diseases are psychosomatic in nature, which are directly related to the nervous system, that is, what they do is improve self-suggestion.
Most people who report these miracles don’t lie, they’re really going through what they say they’re doing. However, there is reason to believe that all this is happening in your mind, without without reality. There is, for example, hysterical blindness that can be effectively cured in the same way that it originates: through a strong psychological experience.
There are also cases where there is evidence of fraud or, in any case, there is a desire to believe in something that goes beyond the test. There are countless episodes in which religion has had to admit that it made the error pointed out by science. For example, he had to admit that Copernicus, Galileo, or Darwin’s theories were correct. On the other hand, science has never had to show up for religious beliefs.
Everyone can be a believer or atheist depending on what their conscience dictates, yet true faith needs no wonders to be firm, it takes much less fear to sustain itself. The same goes for atheists, who may be afraid to believe.
Perhaps we should understand that there are daily miracles, stronger and more precious than extraordinary facts, living, breathing, loving, laughing, suffering and being able to succeed in spite of everything are great miracles that we must celebrate every day.
