Before it’s too late: a letter that invites us to think

Before it’s too late, be aware of everything that makes you happy; Before it’s too late, enjoy every little thing, every little gesture, every moment.

We spend half our lives imagining that we have all the time in the world before us, we believe that we are immortal and we have the courage to postpone what is important and what is not urgent for another day, so it does not work, time passes; even if you don’t want to be aware, it allows you to value and experience what you have, here and now.

  • The last winning card of the III Love Card Contest in Toledo.
  • Spain.
  • Talks about the experience of not waiting until it is too late.
  • Do not waste the time that we have in our hands and know how to appreciate and appreciate before time captures us and steals our memory Maybe tomorrow is too late.
  • Maybe tomorrow you are no longer here?.

“I write to you now, as you sleep, in case tomorrow it is not me who rises beside you. In these comings and goings, I spend more time on the other side, and on one of them, who knows?I’m afraid there’s no turning back.

If tomorrow I am not able to understand what is happening to me, if tomorrow I can not tell you how much I admire and appreciate your integrity, this effort to be by my side, trying to make me happy in spite of everything, how already.

In case tomorrow I don’t know what you do when you put entrances in each door so as not to confuse the kitchen with the bathroom; when you make us laugh after putting on my shoes without socks; when you insist on keeping the conversation alive, even if I get lost in every sentence. When you come to me and whisper in my ear the name of one of our grandchildren; when you respond tenderly to the outbursts of anger that assault me from time to time, as if something in me rebelled against this destiny that holding me back.

For these things and so many others. Maybe tomorrow I won’t remember your name or mine.

Maybe tomorrow I can’t thank you more, maybe tomorrow I can’t tell you, not even for the last time, that I love you.

The letter shows someone’s fear of being lost in oblivion, of disappearing even though they are present, the loss of memory makes us forget who we are and who those around us are, we have lost the essence of being who we were, but also, Alzheimer’s disease befalls everyone who walks with us.

Forgetfulness is perhaps our worst enemy, because we are made of memories, we are experiences, we are the fruit of what we bring from the past, from all our lives, however short, when we lose it we begin to cease to exist. So don’t wait until it’s too late, don’t leave the most important thing to the end, remember to say how much you love those next to you, don’t waste time, the seconds you spend with them.

How can we fight what is haunting us and it seems to be getting closer and closer to year to year? There is no magic recipe to avoid forgetfulness, but there are tips to reduce the chances: stay active, don’t smoke, eat healthy, dedicate yourself to new tasks that force your brain to think and discover new ways.

Learn new things, meet new people who show you new ways of thinking, and most importantly, enjoy every second of your life. Thank you for having what you have, even if you find it little, because unfortunately the day will come when you will. I won’t be there anymore and I won’t be able to do it. Before it’s too late, start remembering today.

Before it’s too late, open your eyes to the present, walk with your heart and enjoy everything you’ve got.

“We have to pay attention to the details, do they fill our lives with pebbles that guide us?. – Katherine Pancol-
