Celebrating women: Eve was not born from any coast

Every 8 March we celebrate Women’s Day around the world, this is important because a day like this, as conceived, is not celebrated or praised, why?By this date he looked at the calendar to remember more than 100 women who lost their lives in a fire at a New York factory on March 8, 1908.

The women were in the Sirtwoot cotton factory when the fire broke out, attributed to the owner of the same company, which caused the fire was their response to the strike that was taking place to demand equal pay, reducing working hours to 10 hours. and the time to breastfeed your children.

  • In 1910.
  • In Denmark.
  • The Second International Conference of Women Workers was held.
  • When it was established on 8 March as the International Workers’ Day.
  • A fact that serves as a reference point for the fight for women’s professional rights in each country.

Is this currently there? Celebration? It extended to Women’s Day, a moment that helps us remember all the goodness that the guy who makes the world live, however, this day should serve as a point of demand, not to categorize women as admirers of pink, makeup. or any other kind of stereotype and sexism from which corporate marketing benefits.

Women’s empowerment is as necessary as it is urgent in our society, as it offers women their rightful adjustment of powers and forces without submission.

Even in this century, we feel that our hearts shrink when a woman is abused simply by being a woman, when her desires and dreams are over because it is not accepted that a woman does not sacrifice hes each other, when the woman is expected to get up and gather dishes, when a leading woman touches us, when car brands use a woman’s body to attract buyers , when selling a perfume depends on the advertising potential of the woman, etc.

Like it or not, we live in a world of inequality, our minds and expectations are unequal by gender, this is reflected in our behaviors and thoughts, and when we realize them, we fight them day after day.

We want a woman to have the same opportunities as a man, no more, no less. We do not want there to be a need to pay international tributes every 8 March. We also want balance and equality to be natural.

We don’t want to get paid less, or work for free, we don’t want job offers to ask for our number or look a certain way, we don’t want to have to wear a skirt uniform by decree either.

We do not want a woman to be educated as a martyr and to be socially forced to sacrifice her desires “for the good of others. “We don’t want to be paid homage for using pink, because that color belongs to everyone.

We don’t want advertising to turn us into objects. We don’t want breastfeeding to be mis-sighted or to be seen with discrimination. We want to be seen as another being in this world without fear of being broken.

Because fragility is not synonymous with the female sex and when it is women’s job to do household chores or raise children, because as the fantastic Eduardo Galeano has made clear:

“If Eve had written Genesis, what would the first night of love for humanity look like?Eve would have begun by clarifying that she was not born from any coast, that she did not know snakes, or offer apples to anyone, and that God had never told her that she would give birth in pain and that her husband would dominate her. That all these stories are pure lies Adam told the media?

Good life, woman, shall we say, good life?Because today we do not congratulate you on being affectionate, hardworking, good mother or better girl, we simply appeal to make you proud of being who you are as a person, to add manifestations and problems and visualize inequalities.

However, remember that while every 8 March is a day dedicated to all the wonderful women of the world and history, we must not forget that we must shout with the same intensity for the rest of the year.

That said, again: HAPPY LIFE, WOMEN. Because although for centuries society has strived to believe that women are worthless, a woman can be EVERYTHING, without limits or distinctions, and there is a growing awareness of it.
