The transcendental meditation technique, or MT, is the purest, simplest and most effective form of meditation the world has ever known, it is the technique of automatic transcendence, to bring our minds to the most powerful and simple state of consciousness, free from any mental control or thought process. Transcendental meditation is a universal practice whose founder was Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.
Compared to other meditation techniques, which require concentration or mental control, HT requires no effort and should be practiced twice a day, for 20 minutes, sitting comfortably in a chair with your eyes closed. Can you train on the subway, on the plane, in a car?(if you’re not the driver). There is no philosophy associated with TH and it is not related to other religious beliefs, besides, it does not require a change in the way we live.
- To understand how it works.
- Let’s use the ocean analogy.
- Imagine that you are in a small boat in the middle of the ocean and suddenly you find you facing a storm with waves more than 200 meters high.
- However.
- If we made a cross- In the section.
- We would see that the ocean remains absolutely calm and in a deep silence.
- That is turbulent on the surface and calm in the depths.
- That’s how our mind works.
If we stay on the surface of the ocean, we will be trapped in the ‘owe’ of our minds. With the inclusion of transcendental meditation in our lives, we restore the calm that naturally exists within us, experiencing a unified field of pure or transcendental consciousness that exists in every human being.
The results of the research show that during transcendental meditation the mind reaches a level of rest and relaxation that, in many cases, is even deeper than when we sleep and allows us to eliminate stress and anxiety.
Research also shows a greater impact on the amygdala, frontal lobe and both brain hemispheres. Is there a strengthening of the connection of the frontal lobe and the back of the brain, improving decision-making, planning, judgment, reasoning?
Thanks to neuroplasticity, there is a stimulation of the brain connections that take place during meditation, in this way the brain evolves from chaos to coherence, clearly integrating the events of the day, increasing alpha waves, responsible for the “state of alert calm”. This allows our mind to calm within, beyond thought, at a more peaceful and calm level of consciousness, in our deepest being.
At the hormonal level, cortisol is secreted by the adrenal gland when we are in a state of anxiety entering a vicious circle: a lot of anxiety, more cortisol, more cortisol, a lot of anxiety, however levels of this hormone are reduced by up to 30% when we meditate, while increasing levels of Serotonin and prolactin, hormones that influence our sense of well-being.
Physically, your usual practice significantly reduces blood pressure, cholesterol, stroke risk, atherosclerosis, heart attack and a number of related diseases.
In order to calm the mind effortlessly, a mantra is used in transcendental meditation, which is personal and confidential.
A mantra is a sound or word that is used silently and has no meaning and always has a positive frequency, this mantra is taught by a teacher trained in transcendental meditation, the technique is taught in four consecutive days and during the first interview the teacher will give you the mantra that will now serve as a vehicle.
The state of mental calm already exists in us innately, we don’t need to create it, because the mind gets carried away by what is more satisfying, for example, you are at a party and you participate in a conversation that you are not interested in at All, however, not far from you, some people talk about your great passion. Where do you think your attention is set? This phenomenon occurs spontaneously, just as our mind relaxes when we meditate.
“What we focus on will become strong in our lives. -Maharishi Mahesh Yogi-
During transcendental meditation, we allow the mind to flow naturally to us and the mind calms automatically, providing not only physical but also mental relaxation.
