Enthusiasm: and motivating our desires

We’re all excited about something or someone at some point in our lives, aren’t we?Try to remember a time when you felt this feeling very intensely. It was related to other mental variables, wasn’t it? Among them, the most specific: motivation.

When something or someone deceives us, we see how that enthusiasm becomes a force, a source of energy from which we draw power to achieve what has been conceived on our horizon, as a desire with possibilities, that is, in this case, it would act as an element that predisposes us to act, just as fire heats everything we approach. So we have to ask ourselves, what is the illusion to achieve it? Read on and find out!

? Don’t reject your dreams. Without enthusiasm, what would the world be like?- Ramón de Campoamor-

Intuitively, if we think about what enthusiasm is, everyone is likely to include positive ideas in the definition; in fact, we associate it with positive values. It is something that helps us to seek change and improve as people, but not only that, it also makes us grow, and our quality of life increases, not to mention that it is a powerful reinforcement for these actions with which we feel good.

In other words, it motivates us to use the means necessary to achieve the object of this enthusiasm, it is an initial hope, fueled by the idea or feeling that we have located something positive on our radar, what does that mean? This enthusiasm is what drives us, while pushing us to take steps to achieve what we want.

“Talent is necessary, but without hope you will not be able to get far. -Fernando Trujillo Sanz-

Let’s take an example. Enthusiasm arises when we see the job offer we want, which is a stimulus. But not only in this situation; preparation of the program and subsequent interview, that is, in our response to achieve it. Finally, when we are selected for this position (the consequence), it is normal for this enthusiasm to continue.

In short, enthusiasm arises in part from faith, from imagining the possibility of getting at least what one wants, materializes when we begin to walk the way to reach it and sign a contract in which we undertake not to give in to the first obstacle, whether real or imaginary, anticipated or unforeseen.

As we have seen, enthusiasm is stimulating, response and consequence, but that is not all; it consists of many other elements, so there are things related to emotions, mainly of a positive character, in this way enthusiasm is linked to joy and happiness, but also to the desire to live.

On the other hand, enthusiasm is associated with more cognitive processes, such as our thoughts and beliefs, plans for the future and life, valuing daily life and relationships with our loved ones, trusting in others, hoping to achieve our goals and being consistent. would be part of this group.

Finally, linked to the idea that one reacts when enthusiasm appears, we see that there are elements of action or behavior, that is, all the behaviors that we perform when something excites us and motivates us to want to achieve a specific goal.

From everything mentioned so far a key idea arises: the importance of enthusiasm as the engine of our growth, when something excites us, we are in a better position to face the various disadvantages that are presented to us along the way, without being paralyzed or lost. energy In other words, we are strengthened.

As a result, we have managed to continue despite the uncertainty of achieving or not achieving our goal, of course, as with many other ingredients in our lives, we must maintain control, if we set unattainable goals, what we will achieve in the long run will be to waste time and have bad feelings.

“My greatest illusion is to continue to have illusions. -José Narosky-

If I like to paint, but so far I’ve spent a few hours and I haven’t done any more studies on it, but I’m considering letting my work live off my paintings, I’m sure I’ll fail and end up in bankruptcy. so I’ll feel bad and probably won’t try to do other projects that excite me. It is precisely the other side of illusion, of disappointment, that far from stimulating growth, makes us conservative.

Which means I’m not excited and motivated to keep improving, but I’ll be aware that my life isn’t going to happen that way, and I won’t prioritize this desire over other more important activities that will take my time?See what I mean? It is important to find goals that excite us, but are achievable and not a source of constant frustration, so that the consequences of trying to achieve them are positive and enthusiasm increases rather than diminishes.
