To flow with life, or to be on the move, is to find the perfect mix between pleasure and challenge. We talk about those moments of great creativity and performance that fill us with positive feelings.
Challenge is a fundamental element of our physical and psychological well-being, there is no happiness without challenges. Let’s think it’s very difficult to find something enjoyable or rewarding in an activity that is below or above our capabilities.
- We talked about these experiences that everyone already knows.
- In which we were able to dive and enjoy a task.
- “Forgot?Anything to do with her.
- Time distorts.
- Seems to accelerate or stop.
It is a state in which consciousness works on a different level. Your mind and body are in sync and only your fusion does. Psychology uses the name “flow” or flow. Once you’ve sunk you can’t forget how you feel, this can happen when writing and painting, composing a song, or playing a sport, for example.
Flowing with life is a unique experience in which consciousness works on a different level.
Flow theory, or flow theory, is the subject of psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi. It’s not just an experience that makes us feel good. Streaming involves sacrificing the resources we usually devote to peripheral care in another, more focused and focused attention; a sacrifice?which means emotional well-being.
It takes several dimensions for the flow experience to occur, you need to have a defined goal. It is also more likely when our capacity is adjusted to the level required by the task.
This requires a significant degree of concentration. There is a union of consciousness and action, we have a sense of control over what we do, that is, we do not feel anxious or think about failure, the consciousness disappears. The ego weakens. We have an altered perception of temporal space, it is an autotelic experience: we do the activity because doing so is its main objective and nothing else.
What’s really going on when we sink? Research says it’s a psychological experience, more than a physical experience. Our brains and how they work are a big part of it. Different areas involved in the flow state have been identified.
Our prefrontal cortex is responsible for assessing risks, planning, analyzing thoughts, suppressing impulses, solving problems, and making decisions. There is a region in this area associated with negative feelings towards ourselves, the middle prefrontal cortex.
These, like the amygdala, which treats the negative feelings of experiences, are not inhibited when we enter a state of flow, the distortion of time occurs in the parietal lobe, which is why the area of the brain associated with motivation, part of the nucleus accumbens, it is activated when we enter the flow. The areas related to the perception of control that we have in the flow state also seem to be activated.
The production of endorphins is stimulated, since in meditation fear is reduced and a feeling of euphoria is created, which increases the levels of GABA, a neurotransmitter that increases concentration by reducing the perception of external stimuli.
Acting in this state implies an energy expenditure that we often ignore; then, when we leave, it is normal that we feel happy, but also tired. In addition, it adds to the fact that this is a state in which we usually get involved in tasks over which we have a lot of control.
Is it also easier to keep our brains in shape?By reading or any other “intellectual food”. When we move away from the vulgar or the unprofitable, when we exchange television for a cultural program, or when we reserve time, when you let yourself be invaded by colors, beauty, art or music for example.
Flow theory has always been linked to positive psychology, in my opinion many interpret this concept the wrong way, it is associated with happiness, although it is also a state in which it is possible to enter into moments of despair.
On the other hand, it would be interesting to have studies that talk about the relationship of this state with the tragic moments of our life Is sometimes the only way to get away from reality?Focus on another one? When the power can no longer be handled. One.
And you, are you ready to live with life?
