Health professionals need psychological care

In this war against the coronavirus, our soldiers lack the right resources, are exposed to disease, long periods of frantic and exhausting work, and even more difficult: they feel powerless in the face of all lost lives. The emotional tension is enormous, and something like this will leave short- and long-term consequences.

However, the coronavirus caught everyone unprotected and unprepared, no one expected it. Terms like that? Maybe it was past dimensions, events that no one could have foreseen.
Something that had no place in our present, so perfect, so hasty, technological and industrialized. And yet it happened, and health professionals face something unknown that escapes them, yet far from giving up, do they still do their best every day, every second?
Ministries of health and doctors’ and nurses’ unions warn that the situation is wreaking havoc and will continue to do so in the future. This emotional overload can result in post-traumatic stress disorder tomorrow.
Right now, right now, we see them doing their job with their undeniable professionalism, but is it also common for them to collapse from time to time under the refuge of tears?

This is an exceptional situation and only they know what their daily life is like, healthcare professionals need urgent psychological care right now for two reasons.

Every day we should applaud health professionals on windows and balconies, this is all we can do for them, stay home to contain the contagion curve and ward off our affection and admiration, but we are not always aware of what. they’re going through.
