This story of transformation tells the story of a butterfly that thought it was still a caterpillar. This story tells us about the transformation and lack of acceptance of oneself. The truth is that sometimes we have more power than we want to see, so we waste our energy resisting change, looking back and trying to remain who we are no longer.
A small caterpillar was born a long time ago and, with some difficulty, crawled on the ground from side to side, until one day, tired of crawling, she decided to climb a tree, but not any tree. He chose to climb a very large trunk and leaves, under which he had played, grown and lived for years.
What do you agree to transform?-Carl G. Jung-
The caterpillar went up and up, but sometimes it slipped and fell and could not advance, yet it did not surrender and, step by step, gradually managed to climb to a branch from where it was. I could see the whole valley. The view was beautiful. From there I could see other animals, I could admire the blue sky with clouds of white cotton and, on the horizon, a vast sea painted deep blue. In this branch, the caterpillar breathed peace.
She stood still looking at the world around her and felt that life was too beautiful not to change with her, she was tired and at the same time grateful for her life as a caterpillar, but he knew that the time had come to transform into another being.
“The best gift we can give to the world is our own transformation. -Lao Tzu-
The caterpillar fell asleep, feeling a great peace around him and thinking that his destiny was to be more than just a caterpillar. She slept and slept, growing a cocoon around her, a shield that maintained the sense of peace long enough for her to become another being.
When she woke up, she felt trapped in armor she couldn’t move. He felt something strange had developed on his back. With great effort, he moved what appeared to be huge blue wings and the cocoon broke. plus a caterpillar, it was a blue butterfly. However, it had been a caterpillar for so long that it did not realize that it was no longer a caterpillar.
The blue butterfly has descended from the tree with its small legs, although it now has wings. He carried the weight of these large blue wings, a weight that gradually consumed his strength. The blue butterfly moved using its paws as it had always done. She thought it was still a caterpillar and continued to live like one, but her wings made it difficult to move around the ground with the same agility as before.
“What is called the end of the world for the caterpillar, for the rest of the world is called a butterfly. -Lao Tzu-
The butterfly that thought it was still a caterpillar did not understand why her life had become so complicated, tired of carrying the weight of her wings decided to return to the branch on which she had undergone her transformation, but this time, trying to climb the tree, she thought it would be impossible.
A stream of wind or any other unforeseen one pushed her back, the butterfly, which she believed was still a caterpillar, stopped and looked toward the branch, which seemed so distant, at the same time that she began to cry desperately. Hearing him cry, a beautiful, wise white butterfly approached, perched on a flower and looked for a moment at the blue butterfly without saying anything, when the tears subsided, the white butterfly said:
The blue butterfly, which he believed to still be a caterpillar, looked strangely at the white butterfly and then looked at himself and his large, heavy wings. Like the day he came out of his cocoon, he beat his wings and opened them. so big and beautiful, so deep blue that the transformed caterpillar was afraid and quickly stored them.
The blue butterfly looked in amazement at every movement of the white butterfly and reflected on the words she heard, at that moment she began to understand that it was no longer a caterpillar, that perhaps those heavy wings could serve something.
He opened them again and this time kept them open. He closed his eyes and felt the wind touch them, felt that the wings were now part of her and accepted that she was no longer a caterpillar, so she could no longer live as one, crawling on the ground.
The blue butterfly extended its wings even more and smelled more butterfly and less caterpillar, noticed the beautiful blue hue, almost magical, of its wings and inadvertently, it was flying, gradually climbing up this branch. Flying was much easier than crawling, although you still needed to improve your flight. He discovered that the fear of flying had not allowed him to accept who he really was: a caterpillar transformed into a blue butterfly.
This story of transformation tells the story of a butterfly that thought it was still a caterpillar, the story of the beautiful blue butterfly, with large strong and strong wings, able to go against the current, fly in storms and face the strongest winds. The blue butterfly had large, beautiful wings of a bright blue, a blue that contains a wide range of blue tones, from the blue of the lightest sky to the most furious sea, but even she didn’t know it.
The transformation of the caterpillar into a butterfly is one of the most commonly used metaphors for resilience, butterflies are a symbol of transformation, a symbol of fragility and greatness at the same time, so it is easy to find a butterfly as the protagonist of a tale of transformation.
This story of transformation reminds us that we live in a changing world, in an ever-changing world, and that we are part of this dynamic world, part of that evolution, but sometimes, even if we have transformed and have the strength to evolve, we cannot accept it for several reasons: fear, shame, guilt?
“It is impossible to always be the same person, because we live. -Eloy Moreno-
In this case, a beautiful and strong blue butterfly could not accept that it was no longer a caterpillar and therefore could not live as if it were, a part of itself wanted to evolve, but another part feared change and tried to cling to the Past and continue living in the same way, even trying to be another being. It took him a while to accept and discover what his wings were for and how he could live from there. To do that, I needed help. In this sense, we must think that others tend to see our strengths more clearly than we do.
