Many people do not show a real level of satisfaction in their lives, you could say that they have their needs met and yet it is difficult to see them with a smile on their face, how to deal with chronic dissatisfaction in these cases?
Living from the complaint is one of the great misfortunes, and also one of the temptations, of the 21st century. Faced with this reality, there are two different approaches. They say we have to accept the situation completely. Everything is fine in our minds; dealing with chronic dissatisfaction is therefore a matter of learning to be satisfied with what you have.
- The other approach is quite the opposite.
- If you’re not happy with the situation.
- Change it!Set a goal.
- Work hard to achieve it and when you do.
- You’ll be happy.
- Mixture of these two approaches?.
We all feel dissatisfied with something sometimes, no one has a perfect life. However, the problem arises when this sensation predominates in daily life.
Chronic dissatisfaction is generally linked to two elements: not accepting reality and not actively working to change what is wrong. The secret that many people do not know is that these two elements are essential for us to feel good. Applying only one of the two, aspects is a recipe for anxiety, depression or unpleasant emotions.
Imagine, on the one hand, that you’re just trying to accept what’s going on. Although there are things in your life that you don’t like, you decide to stop worrying about them. In short, enjoying the present moment is one of the secrets of happiness.
This way, you won’t be able to worry about anything unpleasant, if your boss treats you badly, offer him the other side, if you don’t have enough financial resources to have children, don’t have them. Do you feel after a while if you did that?
You’ll probably end up feeling like you’re not in control of your life. You feel like a drifting ship, and rightly so in the world. Acceptance is a very powerful tool, but only in two ways: as a starting point for change (if I don’t accept a problem, it will be difficult to get around it), and as a way to assimilate what I don’t accept can be changed.
On the other hand, if you resign yourself to everything you don’t like, in a false acceptance, you will end up feeling a great discomfort based on cognitive dissonance.
Now let’s take the opposite example. Imagine that you hate your current situation and decide to take steps to change it, however, you do not accept that you have some responsibility, because there have been many occasions when, perhaps, you have lacked a little tact.
Right now you can act to generate change, however, without accepting your responsibility, it is much harder for the effort to have the desired effect, so the lack of honesty with yourself will lead you to make bad decisions, which will take you away from what you want.
If you are not satisfied with your current situation, the solution is to combine the previous two strategies, to be really good you have to accept what is happening to you, in addition to actively working to change what we do not like. It may seem contradictory, a practical example will help you understand this idea.
Imagine that you have a high body mass index (BMI) and would like to reduce it, besides, you think you would be happier if your body were fit, because the first step is to recognize, in a sincere dialogue with yourself, that you have that desire or that you do not have that desire. In both cases, denying this will only serve to adopt strategies that won’t help you.
On the other hand, dieting and exercising, while you torture yourself by getting to this point, it won’t help either. Feeling bad about yourself is an opportunity against your own motivation.
If you apply these four steps chronic dissatisfaction will disappear, remember that accepting the situation and working to change it are two steps on the same path, it is difficult to develop an intelligent action plan if you have not previously analyzed and accepted the current situation. Situation.
