I hope you’re okay, at home, taking care of yourself and taking care of the people you love from a distance. I hope that in the coming days suffering will not pass through your home. I hope that a sphere of protection and immunity will rise around you, with very thick walls, such as the walls of the Romanesque churches of the Middle Ages, which protected against attacks by wars and crusades, as well as epidemics.
Because even if it’s hard to believe, we’re at war. These words continue to cause a strange sense of unreality, as well as the growing number of infected people and lives lost. Haruki Murakami said in one of his books that we are all forced to weather storms.
- He also warns that after the clouds pass.
- We may not know very well how or why we managed to survive.
- And we may even doubt that the storm actually existed.
Whatever our doubts, it seems that after that, we will not be the same, we may learn good things that allow us to start over in another way, with other criteria, with more supportive and human values and thoughts.
However, this is not the time to think about tomorrow, our gaze must turn to the present to assume co-responsibility, it is a moment of reflection and forced courage.
Because it doesn’t matter that no one has prepared us for it. Life seems to have stopped, our plans have been disrupted in a vast sea of uncertainties. However, we are forced to deal with frustration and understand that for life to continue, we have to make our home our world.
Wherever he is, I hope he’s doing well. No matter where you live, Scotland, South Africa, Brazil or New Zealand understand reality and obey, stay home.
Regardless of your country’s government decisions, act responsibly, as, in fact, in many cases, those forced to act act slowly or, worse, are skeptical.
Don’t listen to those who say that what should prevail is the freedom of movement of the individual and the strength of the economy. The theory of group or herd immunity does not work, does not help and is fatal at this stage.
So, if in your country the maximum?Stay calm? And you’re still living your life normally, look in the dictionary for the definition of pandemic, check the news, check out WHO news and find out what’s going on in Italy and Spain.
Stay home for yourself and the one you love
Take care, take the necessary protective measures and leave the house only in case of extreme need. And above all take care of those you love, those who are far away, those most vulnerable to this disease.
Today, you can see an advantage in the midst of this dark context: we have the necessary technological tools to be close to those far away, despite the distance.
Now it’s easier than ever to keep feeding the disease, even staying at home to protect us and contain the growing curve of infection.
Use your mobile, make video calls and build bridges for communication and positive emotions to flow, so don’t hesitate, be proud of yourself just for that, stay home, take care of yourself and others. The simplest acts are the most important and the most decisive.
I hope you are well, whatever your situation, we want calm, strength and hope, because on this little blue planet suspended in the cosmos, as Carl Sagan said, we all have courage, we occupy a place and we are indispensable.
However, one thing we discover sadly with the coronavirus pandemic is that life can be as fragile as the mist of dawn.
We need you. Whatever your nationality, religion, values, thoughts and work, you are decisive and important, you are important to us and you are yours, for those you love and those who love you.
Right now, what matters most is the solidarity and responsibility of those who understand that they must protect themselves, so understand that others are as important as you are.
These are not days dedicated to individualism, it is time to act in community, to take responsibility for protecting life.
We’re all scared. In the face of any unexpected situation and in the face of an unknown enemy, it is perfectly normal to be afraid, but we must not allow this feeling to overcome us, otherwise it will lead us to behaviors that do not help and that further increase anxiety.
Faced with an uncertain future, we must look to the present, trying to control all that we can control: our decisions, our behavior, we must be calm and live the moment with as much responsibility as possible, know how to help and also receive the help of others, if necessary.
All that matters now is to protect us, be like cats: look at the world through the window, stay under the sheets and look at the world with intuitive confidence. In conclusion, I hope we can get through this together. I hope you’re okay and keep doing the right thing: stay home.
