Know your 4 fundamental emotions

Fear, anger, joy and sadness are the four fundamental emotions of the human being, we all feel them at all times, age and culture. But do you know how to control them ?, are you still aware of that?

These emotions are not in our day to day because of an arbitrary or capricious problem, but because they play the main role in our psychological development, that is, they serve to warn us and guide us in the preservation of our organism and in socialization with others.

  • It may be a little difficult to understand.
  • Because it seems very technical or taken out of an encyclopedia.
  • But the important thing here is to remember that we are all afraid.
  • Angry.
  • Happy and saddened.
  • Because in this way the mind and body develop and we can transcend as human beings and socialize.

We have learned (and will continue to do so) through our emotions. So, if you’ve had a great time in your life where it was all happiness, it’s likely that you’ve shaped your personality, as well as if you went through an event that made you very sad or something that caused you a lot of anger. or fear.

It doesn’t matter how old we are, where we live or work. Without exception, we will live these four basic emotions on more than one occasion. This is because emotions are very useful information; they let us know how we are here and now, being a learning guide for our lives, so that we understand each other and know how to follow, if we pay attention.

There are no good or bad emotions, because we usually think or categorize what we feel, what exists are emotions that can be more or less pleasant, each has a specific function and all are necessary.

These four fundamental or primary emotions of the human being are an energetic quality, because they allow us to act expansively with others (anger and joy) or with ourselves (sadness and fear).

We will analyze the four basic emotions separately, in order to know the specific function of each of them in our lives.

It is an emotion known to researchers as the ‘contraction reaction’, it is included in the reflexive emotion group and its function is to warn us of the presence of danger, either to hurt us or to cause us harm.

Fear allows us to assess our ability to deal with situations we perceive as threats. If we know it first and handle it later, we experience caution and expel panic, phobia or bravery.

Also known as “expansion thrill”. It has the function of helping us connect with others, so it is part of expansive emotions (with rage).

Joy can manifest itself in many ways, the most common being tenderness, sensuality and eroticism, if we handle joy well we can achieve serenity and fullness, if we do not know how to handle it well will lead us to sadness, euphoria or frustration.

It is in the group of emotions of contraction and is known as the most reflective of all, it always evokes something that has happened in the past and its function is to help us become aware of something, a situation or a person that we have lost or lost.

Sadness also serves to let go and abandon what does not belong to us or does not harm us. Finally, another function of sadness is to allow others to accompany us by preventing us from creating too vulnerable or dependent.

It is the second most expansive emotion. It is an impulse, a way to take something or someone from us, to send what bothers us, what we believe is unfair or what hurts us.

Anger involves an overload of energy that sometimes helps us achieve what we want or ensures the need for a threat, so it should not always be considered negative, what happens is that sometimes, instead of helping us solve what is going on, it becomes an additional problem if we take its expression to the extreme.

It would be a kind of effective cleaner for everything that weighs on us. But be careful; to do so, it must be recognized, accepted and well managed by anger.

Once we are aware of our emotions and learn to live with them, it will be easier to realize that they are all important in our lives.
