Even after 30 consecutive years of democracy and press freedom in Brazil, (I mean many and not all) people have not learned to deal with the divergence of ideas, opinions, beliefs and worldviews. Unfortunately, we are not yet mature as democracy. The opposing ideas today translate into fights and aggressions.
This has become much more evident on social media and on the Internet as a whole. We, and I say this including the vast majority, with rare exceptions, do not know how to live with the different.
Everyone frantically defends their point of view, and tolerance no longer exists, if ever has been.
Football team, political party, sexual orientation, are personal choices that must and should be respected, there is still no manual of absolute truth, so promote your beliefs without assaulting those who think differently from you, because your beliefs do not define you, but your behavior does.
No one asks you to accept, just respect and learn to be tolerant of anything you disagree with or just don’t believe in.
Not wanting, not believing, not loving is your right, mine and that of all the other human beings who inhabit this world, so live your truth, but you don’t want to rub it in anyone’s face. Don’t try to lower your opinion, your throat among those who already have their own opinions formed.
Not agreeing with something or someone is everyone’s right, respecting everything that differs from your opinion is an obligation, the space of the other begins where yours ends and vice versa, everyone wants peace in the world, but few manage to keep cordiality in the face of differences.
Tolerance of intolerance should be a crime. Maybe if we spent more time trying to become better people rather than judging other people’s choices, our lives would be so happy and realized that we wouldn’t have time for anything else.
