Every day we hear or read about quality of life, although it rarely appears clearly defined, it is always said that it should be searched or done for this or that, is the term associated with expression? And you even feel guilty about not being guilty? So healthy? As it should be.
The truth is that the concept of? Quality of life – began to become popular by walking hand in hand with the economy, at a time when the thesis of “total quality” – has been strengthened to address industrial processes.
- It was estimated that the industry should produce items with as few failures as possible and in an optimal time.
- That way of thinking moved to the field of subjective and that’s when it started talking about?Refer to the processes that have resulted in an existence “with as few breakdowns as possible”.
Thus, several patterns of “quality” lifestyles have begun to be installed, but what is so real about what we call “quality of life”?Is it a general concept that applies to all cases or, on the contrary, does everyone build individually?
The concept of quality of life has two dimensions: one objective and one subjective, the characteristics of objective quality of life have been defined by the business world and are as follows:
For the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), these variables are reduced to only three: life expectancy, education and remuneration; various methods have been developed to measure the quality of life of people, cities and countries, all based on the characteristics described. others are derived from them, such as the environment, the social and political environment, the disability rate, etc.
On the other hand, there is the concept of “quality of life”, which has been adopted by some currents of psychology. In these approaches, objective indicators remain relevant, but are reorganized according to the psychological well-being of each individual.
For these currents, quality of life is defined according to two variables: living conditions and satisfaction with life. Living conditions refer to the material aspects of life (physical health, social relationships, functional activities or occupation).
Satisfaction with life refers to a person’s level of conformity with his or her living conditions, i. e. it indicates how adapted he is to the life he leads.
The concept of quality of life has been the subject of considerable controversy in the world of psychology. The problem arises when you go a little further in the variable?Satisfaction with life? And the principle of ‘adaptation’.
As for satisfaction with life, it can be said that not always being comfortable with living conditions is synonymous with “quality”, that is, mental health.
A dictator, for example, may be very comfortable with the life he leads, in the end he has an authoritarian voice and forc forces protect those around him, however, from the point of view of emotional well-being, this would not be equivalent. quality of life.
It is a purely narcissistic satisfaction. UN?Fullness ?, depends on the circumstances and not your constructive effort, in fact, a harmful condition that causes temporary satisfaction, while sowing the seed of inner decomposition.
If we use the same example, we must also question the concept of adaptation. Who adapts to a reality of this style has quality of life or not?Without a doubt, we can benefit from this adaptation. But definitely also . . . with anguish, fear and lack of freedom.
So how do we define “quality of life”? Maybe the first thing is to say what?Quality is an attribute that corresponds more to goods than people. Moreover, life is a lived reality and not a managed process.
However, it is clear that there are elements that magnify and satisfy a person’s life, but these same elements can impoverish or limit the existence of a different person.
There is no model of life, nor is there a “model” for human beings. In a war, combatants consider the ideal to be a cold and courageous leader, but in peace, the ideal is embodied by those who can tolerate and build harmony.
Finally, what enriches your life is living it according to what makes you happy and improves the lives of those around you, you don’t have to be the richest, the most dyed or the one that best follows the diet to have something that can be called “quality of life”.
What makes it worth living your life is the ability to appreciate you, accept you and avoid hurting yourself, which certainly translates into a constructive position in the lives of others.
