In previous publications we have seen the role of resilience in everyday life, as already mentioned, positive psychology is defined as the ability to adapt to difficult situations, extract valuable knowledge from them and overcome them. How important is the way we explain and respond to our accomplishments?
People who trust themselves tend to understand their achievements as a great consequence of their skills and dedication, have no problem needing outside help, and accept this participation to achieve the goal.
- This recognition is the key to getting used to thinking in a more resilient way.
- When we admit that our real intervention succeeds.
- We gain confidence and the achievement of future goals is seen as a possibility closer to our reality.
- Therefore we will be better prepared to face and capitalize on failures and setbacks.
- Because we are convinced that we are able to overcome them and move forward.
On the other hand, when we consider that success is only due to luck, we lose confidence, because luck is randomly linked and not to continuity, besides that there can be a lot of luck, the continuity of success is linked to the belief in our ability to take advantage of the characteristics of different situations. When we feel responsible for our achievements, we are no longer so vulnerable to the negative effects of failure.
“When I get something I want, I feel happy and appreciate it!”A patient told me during a session: taking a break to enjoy, rather than moving on to another topic almost immediately after achieving something, is more useful and necessary than it seems.

Performing activities related to our interests and strengths also makes us feel that we own our achievements and, in addition to being beneficial to psychophysical health, reinforce our sense of belonging and control over success.
A resilient attitude involves daring, if necessary, to do things that are not related to our strengths, to be patient, to persevere.
Many people come to my office so focused on their inconveniences and fears that they almost forget about the activities that make them feel good, however, it is precisely when we approach complex situations that we must maintain a certain balance and find a place on the agenda. for tasks that refresh us with this feeling of power, joy, joy, when we achieve it.
