Resilience, the ability to be reborn after adversity

Everyone, at some point in their lives, has suffered some kind of traumatic situation, some traumas are very serious (such as the death of a child, a serious illness or an aggression, for example), but can some be more?Simple? And every day (such as losing work, having financial problems, or ending a relationship). These may be some of the reasons that degrade a person, thinking that their life doesn’t make sense.

However, each individual has the inherent ability to face and overcome adversity, as well as to learn to adapt to new situations, which is called resilience.

  • When we say that a person is resilient does not mean that he does not have feelings.
  • Or that he is unable to feel discomfort or emotional pain in the face of difficulties.
  • That is.
  • In fact.
  • After a period of pain.
  • Uncertainty and insecurity.
  • The person has the ability to join forces to accept reality and continue his life.

It’s not easy, and it’s not just about the person with or against resilience, it’s about certain behaviors and ways of thinking that can be learned or developed. The individual may be genetically more vulnerable to an adverse situation, but may be resilient if he or she has grown up in an environment conducive to this situation.

More resilient people have a more accurate, realistic and flexible way of thinking and are less likely to jump to conclusions or exaggerate. In addition, they share three main features:

? They accept reality as it is; ? They believe that life has real meaning; ?They have tremendous recoverability.

Thus, just as the phoenix rises from the ashes, human beings are able to put tragedies behind them, learn from them, and emerge from problems, yet family, school, and society play a very important role in the formation of a less resilient person or person.

Being resilient helps the person identify the causes of a problem (so that it does not happen again in the future) and control their emotions and impulses in the face of crisis situations, so that the resilient individual has a realistic optimism, with a positive perception of his future and the idea that he controls his life, as well as being endowed with the ability to know how to find new ways and opportunities to achieve more satisfaction in his life.

In addition, resilient people are healthy (not just physical, of course), have a better image of themselves, are more satisfied with their relationships, and are less likely to suffer from depression.
