“Is acceptance a magic door that closes problems and opens opportunities? Rafael Hernamperez
We cannot escape painful experiences such as disease, loss, disappointment, separation, etc. Resisting these events or circumstances, however unwanted, will only bring us more suffering and pain.
- To resist is to put our emotion into what we do not want and as far as we are concerned.
- “Why did this happen to me? Resistance is a mechanism of opposition to reality.
- We feel angry.
- Helpless.
- Disapproval.
- Outrage.
- And this takes away our serenity and lucidity.
- The fact that we are resisting change does not prevent them from happening.
- Not everything is under our control.
Resistance causes an emotional storm. It’s an emotion that grows as we realize what’s going on and can’t find a solution, we can’t see the situation clearly, we feel like we’re losing, we waste our energies and we make things harder.
Our natural tendency is to avoid what causes us pain and suffering. We resisted because we couldn’t accept the unexpected changes. The first impulse we have is resistance. Resisting keeps us stuck in trouble. When we don’t accept it, we get bitter. angry, frustrated, dissatisfied, full of bitterness and sadness. These negative feelings only bring us more hardship and suffering.
Live in the present and stop resisting. As you accept and renounce what life can offer you, new ideas emerge to move in the desired direction. If we want to change one aspect of our lives, we must begin with acceptance. Slow and gradual process that takes time to occur. You need to change the focus of your attention, see the positive side of events, and focus on troubleshooting.
Accept the present moment as it is. This often forces us to postpone projects for the future and make changes in our lives. Acceptance doesn’t mean approval, but it makes things easier for us. When we accept, suffering ends. The previously desperate situation is a starting point for new experiences and learnings.
To accept is not to be passive in the face of events, it is to recognize our limits in the face of inevitable situations, to face reality and to move forward.
Finally, I leave you an old proverb, everything you resist, persists. When you start accepting, the situation changes.
