The world and history are full of creative people who have developed solutions or opened paths where no one had traveled before, many of these people probably had better skills than most to leave the legacy that is now remembered, but it is also true. that many others have left their legacy through work to strengthen this capacity.
In this sense, does creativity have much of? Eureka? Or with a cheerful idea, but the phrase attributed to one of the great creative geniuses, Pablo Picasso, is no less true. This great artist said that “if inspiration is to come, let it work, let it be a time when we can enjoy it. “
- To enhance our creativity.
- The studies present us with different strategies.
- One of the best known is brainstorming.
- Which consists only of spreading several ideas.
- Registering them in a medium as quickly as possible.
- Usually this technique is done by writing ideas on a paper or cardboard and maximizing the connection between one concept and another.
- This can be done in a group or individually; no matter the way.
- Because the dynamics are always the same and offer good results.
- Especially in problems that offer a lot of alternatives.
- If this tool is used in groups.
- The results will always be richer.
- Because the amount of ideas suggested will be Research in this sense indicates that about 80% of the time used.
- You will find the final result.
- Which is a good initial idea to refine later.
Another procedure for developing creativity is Walt Disney’s creativity strategy or Disney strategy, which as the name suggests was developed by the popular creator of the world’s most famous cartoon empire, unlike the previous one, this can only be done individually. simple: our being is the channel of direct connection with ideas. Disney’s creative strategy is to look at an idea from three different perspectives; in this case, the only premise to keep in mind is that, to trigger the process, you must have an original idea from which to work.
Specifically, Disney’s creativity strategy is based on evaluating an idea from a dreamlike, critical and realistic point of view. They say it was born because Walt Disney had three offices; one was a blank space, with lots of light and an extremely minimalist aesthetic; the other was a sober desk, classically decorated, with rugs, armchairs, and dim lighting; the third and last was a space decorated in a modern way, with colors, original and avant-garde furniture for the time, an intermediate light and a perfect balance between sobriety and a playful atmosphere. They say that whenever Walt Disney wanted to develop the plot of one of his films, he always went through the three offices; in the first he had the craziest and most illogical ideas, in the second he devoted himself to being the worst critic in the world and even insulting the result obtained in the first dispatch, and in the third, with information from the first and second, he was looking for the way to be satisfied that you both get somewhere in between these ideas. There you have it, three offices, three types of lists, three very different characters? What do they have in common? A brain!
In all creative techniques there is one thing in common: we. Let’s be more or less creative, we’ll always be there, we’re part of it. All you need to know is how to work with them and when to apply them. It is more than proven by research developed by American universities that creativity was born, but it also develops. At this point, we could use the classic comparison with the gym; Isn’t it true that to gain muscle you go to the gym or exercise at home ?, because with the skills the same thing happens, if they don’t work daily or periodically atrophy and do not work as they should.
Finally, I would like to propose a simple neurolinguistic programming exercise that fits perfectly into the theme of creativity strategy. In some ways, this exercise could be seen as an extension of the other calling: The Three Mentors.
Exercise is simple and based on the same concept; Value an idea from different points of view. As in Walt Disney’s creative strategy, in this exercise we will examine an idea from three different positions. It consists of choosing three characters: a knowledge that does not deserve much respect, a famous character whom I respect for some reason and a fictional character who also inspires respect.
The exercise unfolds by closing your eyes and imagining that we are one of those characters; Can we talk like him, sit down or walk like him?and the goal is to get to think like I would. What would you say about the question we ask ourselves? How would you deal with the same problem? After going through the three positions, most of the time it will be the best, we will have a series of answers written on paper, which we can take as a starting point to look for a possible solution to our problem.
This strategy, like most strategies to improve creativity, seeks to get us out of our traditional mental mechanisms and make our thinking work with others that we don’t use as often, in this way, using different procedures, we probably come up with different solutions, more or less valid, but we will always have a source of creative wealth.
