Taking care of our sexuality is essential

It is very important to take care of our sexual health to have a better quality of life, it is a fundamental aspect of our life that needs attention, because on this depends our physical, mental and emotional health, a good indicator of health is to have an active sex life: sexual desire appears when there is an excess of energy.

European Sexual Health Day is celebrated on 14 February, an initiative set up by the European Alliance for Sexual Health (ESHA), which aims to raise awareness of the need for healthy sexual habits.

  • These habits are part of the model of healthy sexuality based on well-being.
  • Respect.
  • Responsibility.
  • Pleasure.
  • Etc.
  • This model has the fundamental characteristic of expanding the concept of sexuality.
  • Which includes our sexual health.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), sexual health is: a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being in relation to sexuality, this requires a positive and respectful approach to sexuality and sexual intercourse, as well as the possibility of pleasurable sexual experiences without coercion, discrimination and violence ?, therefore, taking care of our sexual health means understanding its importance for our quality of life.

It is important to understand that we are sexual persons from birth to death; it is something that accompanies us throughout our lives and that we cannot neglect, here are some of the most important healthy sexual habits that we should consider:

? Sexual intercourse beyond the genital appearance helps the body as a whole, giving us the ability to feel pleasure.

? Sex is not about the technique of penetration; it’s neither the most important nor the goal.

? If there are drugs that interfere with sexual desire, you should devote more time and patience to sexual encounters.

? Don’t go too far with expectations, as mental relaxation and abandonment are necessary for sensations to occur.

? Feel physical security and find the right place for the meeting; contributes to the intimacy of the couple.

? Respect and empathy: do not force relationships, speak and understand the wishes of the other person.

? For arousal to occur, there must be proper desire and stimulation; this will allow for greater concentration and a pleasant response in all directions.

? Let yourself live and feel all the sensations. Relax, let yourself be carried away with confidence; using the same confidence to take the lead.

? Know your desires and your sexual response. We are responsible for what we feel and enjoy.

? Freedom to express our desires without fear of anything

? We are responsible for setting limits, making decisions, accepting or rejecting, without fear of being judged for it, learn to say YES when you want something and NOT when you don’t want it.

? Do not accept impositions: each person lives their sexual encounter according to their individuality and sexuality.

Considering the above aspects as indicators of good sexual health, we understand that we have the freedom to express our sexuality individually or sharedly, the important thing is to recognize that we have great potential to feel pleasure and use it responsiblely.

This potential is a fundamental resource to improve our health in all its aspects. Satisfaction, love, desire, pleasure and affection help create a healthier life and live our sexuality more intensely.

Removing our sexual health means neglecting our ability to experience pleasure, limiting our desires and abilities. Not benefiting from this aspect of our sexuality interferes with the love and happiness we can live.

Today and for every day of your life, we wish you good sexual health, enjoy it consciously and responsiblely, either individually or sharedly.
