Have you ever wondered what your night dreams mean?
We know that the subject of nightmares may be influenced by a multitude of variables that tell us nothing about what our lives are like, but today we will give a good answer by borrowing one of the most incredible works by Sigmund Freud, neurologist and father of psychoanalysis. .
- In his best-known work.
- “The Interpretation of Dreams.
- ” Freud argues that all dreams represent a desire on the part of the dreamer.
- Including nightmares.
It confirms the existence of negative dreams of desires, where what appears and dreams is the non-realization of a desire, for this Freud gives several explanations, among which we highlight the satisfaction of a personal masochistic tendency.
Always taking into account this explanation, he argues that dreams are achievements disguised as repressed desires, considers that each of them is interpretable and that it is possible to make sense of what happens when dreamed.
In this theory we can find recurring dreams: those that are repeated from time to time throughout our lives and that can respond to certain traumas/fears that we have not yet overcome and that appear in the most stressful or anxious moments.
The interpretation of recurring dreams varies from person to person, so it is necessary to know the personal history of each individual in question.
There are two types of recurring dreams
? Recurring personal dreams. These are the dreams that only you have.
? General recurring dreams. They are shared by much of the population, for whom a sense is found, dreams of painful connotations, such as nightmares, that violate our physical integrity and our most primitive fears come into play.
1. Being naked in public. Are you in a familiar place, like college, work?, definitely surrounded by people. Suddenly he realizes he doesn’t wear clothes and people start looking. Given the situation, you’re starting to feel vulnerable and ashamed. This fear can be part of the need to feel well integrated into a group.
2. Someone is chasing you. You try to run and move very little, or just move, it looks like you’re in a place that has little gravity, usually these nightmares happen when something bothers or annoys us, or when we have some remorse.
3. Feel pain or suffer damage. This damage can be suffered by yourself or someone for whom you have a special affection. In these dreams, someone may end up hurt or even dead. For example, spider or snake bites are very common in these cases. They indicate the vulnerability of the person.
4. Fall. You can fall from a place as high as a tree or a building. It’s also common for us to thunder or fall into a hole when we start walking. You may find yourself nervous, withstanding situations of great stress, or going through times of problems or difficulties.
5. Stay stuck. You find yourself in a maze or a place where you don’t know the way out, no matter how many laps you miss, you start to feel helpless and afraid you won’t be able to get out of that space. later with a feeling of restlessness or cold sweats, because of the negative sensations we feel during periods like these.
Several authors say that dreaming of being in jail means that we feel that way at this moment in our life, in relation to different fields, whether personal, professional, family, etc.
6. Scream and the voice does not come out. This happens in situations of danger, where we try to ask for help or warn someone and we cannot make screams or sounds, which usually indicates situations of helplessness.
I’d love to share one of my personal nightmares with you, but we know that 90% of the information we experience during dreams is not memorized.
