We learned from our childhood that not dealing with life situations is an act of cowardice, so we associate that whenever we need to retract, we are cowards in the face of our own needs.
We end up creating a great conflict in ourselves with the possibility of backing down, because we don’t want to be seen as cowards. It is impossible not to face situations where it is best to retreat to rethly, evaluate new strategies, reserve and even regain strength to return later with more chances of doing well The coward does not back down, but flees from a situation that no longer interests him because he has had all his advantages without worrying about anything, not even for fear of facing himself or exposing himself in an opinion.
When we take a step back when we take an answer in a conversation or even an argument, we use wisdom, we reserve the right not to say what can be misinterpreted, or simply because we want to better evaluate what needs to be answered.
Abstinence is undoubtedly a good sign of maturity, wisdom and great courage, it has nothing to do with abandonment or weeding. As long as we use this method as a means of assessing a situation, I’m sure we’ll be more right, rather than insisting that we’re not considered cowards.
