Everybody’s looking for something in life, aren’t they? You will surely agree that this investigation is very personal and individual. At first glance, we’re all looking for different things. However, if we go beyond the superficial, we will be surprised to discover that everyone, by different means and choosing different paths (good or not), seek the same thing: happiness!
Being happy can be an exciting challenge, but according to many, it is very difficult to achieve or at least difficult to recognize. There is no one-of-a-all recipe to be happy; everyone tries to be their own way and as they see fit, but there are some guidelines that can be helpful to anyone who intends to cultivate the garden of their personal happiness.
- Interestingly.
- One of the first tips is not an affirmation.
- But a denial.
- That is.
- It is about learning to say ‘no’.
- To put limits.
- Something that seems so simple.
- But sometimes it is quite complicated.
- It is very common that the mistaken belief that to be a “good person” you have to give others everything they ask.
- Without limits or restrictions.
Being available to others without any interest is wonderful, of course, but is there a limit? We cannot make others happy at the expense of our suffering! We must have our own happiness as a personal goal. In other words, we are first and only after the others.
Do you think that’s not the right one, do you think this goes against the teachings of our parents and our community? It must be made clear that this does not mean being selfish, but recognizing that it is impossible to make someone else happy if we are not happy.
Another important issue that can bring us closer to happiness is accepting that we are not perfect beings, in fact, we have an unusual natural imperfection that is wonderful, and that represents that which drives us to transcend our personal horizons and socialize, and even to know other places and cultures.
In this way, we perceive the diversity of customs and values and this will offer us a different perspective on life, and it will make our regrets and moods turn away from us.
Living the present and giving up the weight of the past is also very important to have a happy life, so we must try to set aside the malicious comments of others, remember that the words of others are worth only what we give them. Unfortunately, we often value these statements, reviews or opinions more than the small details that can make us happy, such as times, people, places and, of course, ourselves.
Happiness is within us and in everything we touch, live, feel and look, even with our flaws, we are all an expression of beauty that we can discover and that is often not difficult to recognize within ourselves. It is worth demanding so much from others, because (to be honest) we cannot impose this demand either.
Don’t try to find someone to make you happy. If we don’t find what we want inside ourselves, it will be very difficult to find it outside. Happiness arises from our being, from our precious individuality, and that happiness is what we must recognize and protect, often from ourselves. Be afraid to be happy and move on!
