The power of hope: the kaleidoscope

There are many toys, but some seem magical to us, this is the case of kaleidoscope, which allows you to see the world in many different shapes and colors, this has always been one of my favorite toys, otherwise it is to be able to pronounce your name, which is not so simple. Today I propose to discover how the power of hope can help us achieve what seems impossible, through this Christmas story.

Looking through a kaleidoscope is an invitation to dream of a world of possibilities.

  • I remember it was Christmas.
  • Ornaments all over the house.
  • Most hanging from the tree that rose almost to the ceiling.
  • Adorned with colorful balls and golden banners; were visible before my eyes.
  • In the eyes of a six-year-old girl who believed faithfully in magic.
  • Santa Claus and the wizards.

“Christmas shakes a magic wand over the world, and so everything becomes softer and more beautiful. -Norman Vincent Peale-

I went for a walk by my father’s hand and went to see toys, as soon as I saw him I was certain that this and not another was going to be my Christmas present, it was a simple tube adorned with a family of bears celebrating Christmas, since the little ones wore ornaments for the tree: colorful balls, stars full of light Angels?

Bears were my favorite animal, sleeping in teddy bear pajamas, I had a T-shirt with the image of a real bear and hundreds of bears of all kinds, colors and sizes, from grizzly bears to polar bears. The polar bear, who lived on the ice, was one of my favorites, there were also uniquely colored bears, such as a pink bear, or even a bear with a red bow with white polka dots.

But this tube didn’t just draw my attention to the bears: if you went through it, you could see a lot of different compositions, something strange and beautiful at the same time. Stars turning into flowers, flowers in circles, diamond circles, etc. In an infinity of mixtures of shapes and colors, so different and equal, looking through this tube I felt able to travel in other worlds, to live a thousand adventures in a single moment.

I could only insist that my father be my gift:

Back home, I didn’t stop trying (calicopium, Calidoscpio, Calidopia, Caledocopi, Caledospo?), but there was no way to do it. My older brother laughed at all the words I coined at the time and insisted; Kaleidoscope I kept trying to learn the name, but when I didn’t, I felt Santa wasn’t going to bring it to me.

Christmas Eve finally arrived and when I opened the presents I felt a little sad, I kept trying to pronounce the name of the gift I wanted, but will I shut up?I couldn’t play any more lyrics. I opened my first gift, convinced it wouldn’t be my tube with cute bears, but when I opened it, I was there. Being the gift I expected, I felt so much emotion that without thinking I said:?The KALIDOSCOPIO I wanted.

Every effort has its reward. The girl in this Christmas story was about to lose faith when she received the gift she was waiting for, for despite her insistence, the word kaleidoscope resisted, however, it was just receiving the gift and feeling so much emotion that, without any effort, she can finally pronounce it. I’m sure you’ll never forget how the word kaleidoscope is pronounced, or this Christmas or what it meant to her.
