Today I want to invite you to reflect on the true value of Christmas with the story “Transform Christmas”, in which a child will remind us that it is important to appreciate and appreciate what we have. Although we seem to have few, and it’s important to do it every day, not just once a year.
On these dates, we are bombarded by panttone ads, toys, perfumes . . . All this indicates that Christmas has arrived, a wonderful and feared time of year, the streets light up and a kind of collective madness invades us and invites us to consume compulsively, overfill the pantry and buy gifts for everyone, but is this really worth Christmas?Transforming Christmas is possible when we can look beyond gift packs.
- “Christmas is not a time or a season.
- But a state of mind.
- Do valuing peace and generosity and having mercy understand the true meaning of Christmas?.
- – Calvin Coolidge-.
Little Oliver had just turned five and was very curious about the world around him, he began to notice that everything was changing, the streets were full of bright colors, repetitive music was heard everywhere, trees decorated with figures of all kinds, television was advertising sweets, toys, champagne, perfumes? All of this raised a question for Oliver, whom he eventually dared say aloud to his mother:
? Which is Christmas
? Christmas is something only the lucky ones can have. I hope one day I can offer you a Christmas, my son, “Did your mother answer sadly.
Oliver was saddened by this answer and seeing his mother’s expression, but he did not lose hope that one day he would be lucky and live his own Christmas. The days passed and Oliver continued his research on the subject. Christmas morning is here.
Oliver woke up very early and ran to wake up his mother, she opened her eyes with difficulty and saw that the boy was handing him a card with a reused sheet, but this card was just as beautiful, full of colors, drawings and more. all with a hopeful message: “You give me Christmas every day, why am I happy to be with you?”Oliver’s mother started crying. And the boy asked:
? Why are you crying, Mommy?
Why didn’t he know how happy he was, until you showed him to me, Oliver’s mother said, hugging his son firmly.
? Of course, Mom, we have Christmas every day.
“Christmas is not about opening gifts, it is about opening our hearts. ” – Janice Marditera-
Transforming Christmas is possible, as little Oliver did, with his innocence and valued what is really important to him. His mother’s love was undoubtedly the greatest gift he could receive. The little one, like his mother, reminds us that sometimes we lose the really important thing and care about what we cannot offer others, because we cannot pay or because we believe there will be no reciprocity.
We may lose sight of everything we already have and have received from others. There is no person richer than a person rich in people who love and appreciate him. And everyone, absolutely everyone, has at least one person who loves us and whom I love too, and most importantly, at Christmas.
