It is often said that the secret to success is to know how to expect a reward, although it is true that sometimes good things happen almost unexpectedly and without having foreseen them, it must be recognized that triumphs do not always depend on luck, but on our efforts.
Sociologist Zygmunt Bauman always talks about that liquid “I want” that I have, society, where ties are more fragile than ever and where the need for immediacy prevents us from tolerating frustration and even deferring certain rewards for better benefits.
- Being prepared is always important.
- Knowing how to enjoy the moment is even more important.
- But our true virtue is knowing how to expect the good things that we will achieve in the end with our effort.
We all know that it is not easy to believe that your own dreams and desires will come true, now we must be aware that factors such as a positive and realistic attitude, along with a proper coping strategy, can do a lot for us.
We spend much of our time waiting, queuing, waiting for the bus to arrive and frustrated because the opportunities don’t knock on our door. The art of waiting, in fact, has a secret: to be an active agent who knows how to do it. in the meantime he builds his reality.
It was in the 1960s that psychologist Walter Mischel of Stanford University did an interesting job in which he tried to figure out what skills are generally associated with achieving goals and, therefore, success.
The main idea of Mischel’s research was to be able to isolate these basic strategies so that they could be trained and valued from childhood, for this he developed the following experiment:
“What’s easy, go so easy? I’m sure this phrase looks familiar. Sometimes, when you meet someone who only seeks momentary satisfaction, it is most common to establish such a fragile, selfish and selfless relationship that he ends up being hurt and even disappointed.
What is really worthwhile requires effort, courage and commitment, it is necessary to walk on one’s own paths with self-love and the hope that this hope will finally reach its goal: happiness.
If good things take time to happen, we must not despair, for the same process of daily struggle can certainly enrich us with new roles and skills that we will discover about ourselves.
Therefore, if the waiting process itself needs to adapt to new skills to achieve the defined goal, it is important to think about the following:
It will always be better to predict without exaggeration and accept that we do not have absolute control over everything around us, to accept uncertainty is not to give up, but to recognize what we can really change in our field of action to achieve what we want.
Don’t get tired of waiting, everything worthwhile requires patience, faith, and warrior attitude.
