There is nothing miraculous or esoteric and it has nothing to do with unfounded popular beliefs, in fact, science has already shown that the body has mechanisms to heal itself without the help of drugs.
“There is no medicine to cure what happiness does not cure. “
? Gabriel García Márquez?
This is not a recent discovery. Hippocrates, considered the father of medicine, has used several therapeutic treatments based on the principle that the body has the necessary mechanisms for self-healing, according to these principles, the doctor should only facilitate this process and not intervene directly in it.
Currently, so-called “alternative or complementary” medicine uses these principles in its treatments.
However, the problem is not as simple as getting a disease and waiting for it to heal.
The idea that the body can heal itself is closely related to the concept of disease. Not all medical approaches share the same principles.
Traditional allopathic medicine, for example, believes that the disease is an alteration of normal bodily functions. According to the World Health Organization: “The disease is a change or deviation from the physiological state of one or more parts of the body, commonly known causes, manifested by characteristic symptoms, and whose evolution is more or less predictable. “
From this point of view, medical action should aim to restore the proper functioning of the body, for this they use the most varied drugs, including chemotherapy.
The approach to alternative medicine is completely different: the disease occurs when there is an imbalance between the body and the environment in which it lives, including diet and lifestyle.
Therefore, the goal of the cure is not to eliminate the disease, but to restore the lost balance. Alternative medicine assumes that emotions play a fundamental role in the healing process. Any treatment should be directed to the mind and body. If the mind is healthy, the body heals quickly.
All living organisms are equipped with a mechanism that allows them to restore balance: homeostasis, in a nut words, the adaptability of the body. Allows the body to trigger self-regulation, without being affected by external events.
All organs should be able to contribute to the homeostatic process to maintain good health. Biologically, we are equipped to make everything work properly.
When we get sick, a traditional doctor will seek that balance through the action of an external agent, a doctor using alternative medicine will treat the sick organ to regain its capacity and contribute to body balance.
Health and disease depend on our emotional state and this is easily explained.
All organs in the body have nerve endings and are linked to the central nervous system; are influenced to varying degrees by our brains.
If you’re angry, for example, there will be several effects on your body, such as an increase in heart rate and muscle tension. When anger becomes constant, these physiological changes begin to affect all organs involved in this feeling. Then you’ll probably, develop a disease at some point.
The same applies to all other emotions and feelings. There is no way to experience emotions and feelings only subjectively; all change the physiology of your body.
The body gets sick from the action of self-destructive feelings and emotions, yet you can heal yourself if you work on these negative feelings, get to know each other better and find the answers to your emotional discomfort.
This self-knownness is very important in the case of chronic diseases, the answer may be in our minds and not in the medications we are taking.
